Week One: Understanding Stress and Reconnecting with the Body

In our first session, we’ll begin by exploring the physiology of stress—what it truly is, beyond the feelings of tension or fatigue we often associate with it. You’ll learn how stress manifests in the body, how unresolved stress can lead to stored trauma, and why somatic practices are key to releasing this tension. Through a guided body scan, we’ll introduce the concept of the felt sense, helping you tune into the subtle sensations within your body—whether they feel heavy, light, tight, or porous—without judgment. This practice is about building awareness and learning to stay present with what arises, even when it’s uncomfortable. We’ll pair this with a breathwork exercise to demonstrate how intentional breathing can shift your internal state, allowing you to experience how somatic work creates space for calm and connection. By the end of this session, you’ll have a foundational understanding of how stress impacts your body and how somatic tools can help you reclaim balance and ease.
